    Watchmen
Just got home from the midnight showing. It was amazing. Obviously there were things that were left out, it's still a 3 hour movie. The characters were spot on. The music was amazing. I loved the opening credits. We went with one person who had never read the graphic novel. She enjoyed it, but not as much as the rest of us. It did feel a little choppy at points, but once again, they were condensing the original into a three hour movie. I will absolutely go see it again in theaters. I can't decide which I like better yet, Dark Knight or Watchmen. Thank God the studios are getting these movies right.

I was a huge fan of Madeline L'engle growing up, and am sad to hear that she passed away. Ironically I am in the process of rereading her books right now.

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have an interview at Fidelity Investments in Merrimack NH this Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a job that would start me at 30-35K/year which is enough that I could live in Worcester. This combined with a couple of other solid prospects in this area(Pittsburgh) make me finally feel like I am making headway in the job hunting field. I am going into this interview with a lot fo confidence, perhaps I'm a little overconfident. I have never failed to get a job that I've interviewed for, and I'm hoping that the streak continues.

For those who have not heard yet, I am moving back to Pittsburgh with my parents. This is not any easy decision to make by any stretch. I love all fo my friends here in New England and will miss them painfully. I must do what I need to, so that I can get my life back on track, and go back to school. I want to come back to New England, but I'm not sure when that will be. I am still going to try to come up for a few events a year, specifically Rhiassan and Fae plot events if I can. My plan is to move back sometime on or around the weekend of the 20th/21st of August. I am done at JC Penney as of the 12th of August, so I will have all of that time in between to see people and say goodbye. I will also be free in the evenings after work. I am also hoping to something and see people on or around my birthday, which is on the 10th. Leave me a note if you want to try to hang out before I go.

Work, sleep, work, sleep, work, sleep, work, about to go to sleep, then work, then sleep, then work, then sleep, then maybe work. This is me from Wednesday afternoon up until Saturday morning/afternoon. I have been getting too much of one, and not nearly enough of the other. If anyone wonders why I am dropping off of the face of the earth, this is why. Even writing in my journal right now is eating into my 7 hours of scheduled sleep time for this 24 hour cycle. Night all.

Is it just me, or is Christmas coming much earlir this year? At my job interview on Monday Best buy was pumping Christmas music throughout the store. Today, at the grocery store, the salvation army guy was already ringing his bell. I enjoy the holiday season as much as the next guy, but this is a little silly. We are atill almost a month away from thanksgiving. Doesn't the Santa at the end of the Macy's day parade signify the start of the christmas season? At the rate it's going we may have the Macy's Christmas parade to watch on Thanksgiving day.

In other curiosities, it is cheaper to buy a pumpkin pie from the store than it is to buy the ingredients to make a pumpkin pie yourself. I will still make myself some good old fashioned pumkin pie this year, cause it always tastier, but it is yet another thing that surprised me.

So, in the midst of all the political turmoil today, I have discovered more about myself and my political leanings. I was raised in a Republican home. A very conservative christian home. I now live in Masachusetts, one of the furthest left states in the country. This has caused a lot of difficulties for me for the past few years, as I have been on my own, and trying to develop my own opinions, versus just following those that were instilled upon me by my parents. I am not a far right conservative. They scare me too much sometimes. I am not a far left liberal. They scare me too much sometimes too. I have friends who are both, who are very vocal about both sides. My feeling is this: there are certain issues I will take a stand on, things that I feel either strongly to the left, or strongly liberal, or strongly conservative on. Most of all, however, I am a strong supporter of following the will of the people. To this end, I feel that local elections are on of the best ways for people to make their voices heard. As I mentioned in my last live journal, I have seen some very close local elections with differences of as low as 2 votes making the difference. If my sister and I had been of age, we robably would have had a new high school in our hometown years ago, instead of the overcrowding we had to deal with. In any case, I supported Kerry for President. Not nearly as strongly as most all of my friends in the area, but I do think he would have been the better choice. Over 58 million americans disagreed with me and the 54 million who voted for Kerry. Now Bush is going back into office. Am I upset? Yes. Am I going to wear sackcloth and ashes for weeks, mourning it? No. Nearly 4 million more Americans felt that Bush was better than Kerry.

In the wake of all of this, as I was browsing various news websites, I discovered an alarming fact. For all the discussion, and propoganda for increasing voter turnout, I didn't see one article discussing the voter turnout yesterday. There were over 12 million more voters this year than in 2000, but that only tells part of the story. How large was the increase in voter registration compared to the increase in voters? How large was the increase in voters among the different age brackets? These are the sort of things that I would like to know. Did my generation actually make an effort to make their voices heard, or did they simple sit on their laurels? I saw a lot of articles up, talking about the corruption in the voting, and the different reasons the states might have to be recounted, but nothing on what can probably be viewed as the most positive part of this election. If voter turnout continues to increase by 10-15% every year, we may finally have more people voting for their government officials than voted for American Idol(shock gasp).

Well some good news for today. I got hired at Best Buy for the Christmas season. This means I can start having a little more incoming cash and hopefully start getting some savings going. I get to work in probably my least favorite section of the store, cellphones, but it pays better than the other departments, so I think I can deal. Work at UPS is increasing in annoyingness with a couple of new rules put in by upper management. This is essentially what prompted me to start looking for another job, and boy am I glad I did. My average working hours at UPS are dropping from 35 to about 18-20ish.

In other news there was a little election today. Everywhere I go I see signs, and propoganda telling people to vote. While I have no problem with increasing voter turnout, in fact I am all for it, I feel like it's a little hypocritical. Everyone is gettting on the voting bandwagon, and trying to increase voter turnout for the presidential election. Where were all of these people for the elections the past three years. Elections that made just about as much of a difference as this one. Voting for senators, and representatives, and even local officials is in my opinion even more important than the presidential election. After seeing a lot of very close elections in my town, including school proposals that failed by only 2 votes, I think that taking an active part in your local voting, and local elections every year should be stressed as much as voting for the presidential elections.

I really hope Jen realizes how much I love her. I am missing qhat is quite possibly one of the biggest baseball games of my lifetime to spend time with her on her birthday. There is next to noone else I would do this for. I am not saying that her birthday is unimportant, it really is. But, I will be the most jittery person all night, wondering how my Sox are doing.

    Happy Birthday Jen

I have realms on the brain a lot right now. Just finished throwing an event this past weekend, the Black and White. I will be throwing another event, maybe two, the weekend before thanksgiving. I am also running the save Bouquet quest with AlexanderCecil. I am enjoying it a lot, because my creative juices have been flowing a lot, and I have a virtually limitless canvas on which to pour my ideas. The downside is that I woudl really like to play in some plot. I just look at the calender and there is nothing good coming up. It seems like Cheech and Kathy's plot is the only one I've been actively involved in at all. I enjoy the plot, but it doesn't require much beyond hitting one or two events a year. Maybe some of the camp allen events coming up will entice me, maybe not. We'll have to wait and see.

    Sadness
My heart aches right now. I feel like a part of who I am has been ripped away. For those who didn't know, my best friend Rich's mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. Thursday night, she passed on. I am sad beyond words. When I fall asleep tonight, I know my pillow will be covered in tears for this woman who was taken from her family far too soon. In most of the other deaths of loved ones that I have been witness to, there has been a celebration, for all that they achieved in their long life. My uncle Eddie, living into his mid 80's going dancing and swimming most every day even up till the end. In this there is none of that. I feel pain for how much I will miss her. I feel pain for how much her family, her two children, her husband, and her parents will miss her. She lived a good life, and made a lot of people happy, but at the same time, it just feels too soon. It reminds me of my own mortality, and that of my family members. My own parents are only a few scant years younger than her. I'm not ready to think about their mortality. In time I am sure that the happy thoughts of her will remain. The memories of Christmas time at the Mohrmann house. Their living room filled to capacity with all manner of decorations. Mrs. Mohrmann embodied the Christmas spirit for me. The happiness, the festivity, and the strong sense of family togetherness. Now it feels like a little piece of Christmas is gone. Every time I see a santa, or a window filled with decorations, I know I will think of her.

    I love you Mom
It's days like today, that I am reminded how much I love my mom.

The funny thing is, it's not that she is doing stuff for me. After 20 years of her raising me and watching out for me, I'm afraid to say that I take that for granted sometimes. It's in the stuff I am doing to help her, and how I realize that no matter what I do, or how many hours I spend helping her, it is just peanuts compared tot eh amount of hours she's spent raising and caring for me.

    Happiness
I just watched the movie Happiness. I am very scared and amused at the same time. The movie is filled from beginning to end with black humor. It's like listening to a combination of social commentary and dead baby jokes for two hours. If you haven't seen it before, I recommend it, just wwatch it witht he understanding tha toyu may nto be able to finish it.
